As for my background, I come from a small country in the heard of Europe, Slovakia.
I started to actively participate in civic activities during my high-school, our teachers were highly supportive of us joining youth organizations. This experience helped me in acquiring the ability to speak up and form opinions, which deeply influenced my later development as a teenage. I firmly believe that the future belongs to us – youth, however, as we also partially carry the responsibility for shaping it. As the key solution for youth actively participating in all areas of society I see spreading knowledge and awareness of the EU and democratic values.
YDE is a vital platform empowering young people from different cultural backgrounds, brings them together and gives them voice to spread democratic values, enlighten younger generations and bring the EU closer to the youth.
After spending some time living in different European and non-European countries, I started to appreciate the benefits of democracy and the EU significantly more. For the above mentioned reasons, I am thrilled to be part of the current YDE board and jointly work towards stronger and more united EU.
Beyond the civic activities,
I am very fond of healthy lifestyle, traveling, learning languages, Asian cuisine and last but not least, reading. As a proud European, one of my favorite leisure activities is drinking French wine while reading Czech book and eating Slovak cheese.
The priority for Europe and the YDE for these next 2 years
should be fighting against Euroscepticism and rising radical rightwing parties. Also, actively building the dialogue between the EU institutions and its citizens. Spreading European values and letting citizens know, how the EU protects its citizens on daily basis.
Furthermore, more attention should be given to the environmental issues, e-democracy and shaping the geopolitical position of the EU.
