Following on from the success of the first Summit of Young Elected Local and Regional Leaders that took place in 2017, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Committee of the Regions (ALDE-CoR) have yet again teamed up with European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) and Young Democrats for Europe (YDE) to organise a second Summit in 2018.

The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for young liberal democrat local and regional politicians to meet and share ideas and best practice amongst themselves, and afterwards to meet with experienced local and regional politicians in a joint meeting with ALDE-CoR.

It is a 2-day event packed with information and training sessions, networking, a high-level summit among the participants and a joint session with the ALDE Group in the European Committee of the Regions.

The event will kick-off in late afternoon on Sunday 16 September with a session led by LYMEC and YDE at the ALDE Party HQ in Brussels.

You are encouraged to apply if:

1) you are between 18 and 35;

2) you hold an elected mandate at local or regional level; and

3) you hold a position of responsibility either in local government or in opposition.

Places are limited (5 applications per member organisation) and selection will be carried out by ALDE-CoR based on experience, and with a view to ensuring geographical, policy and gender balance. The draft agenda and confirmations will be sent in July.

Α travel agent contracted by ALDE-CoR will make the booking and purchase of air tickets and accommodation for the selected participants. Due to budgetary constrains, accommodation and travel will be provided on first-come first-served basis.
