YDE Council – March’14 : European elections as a focus

YDE Council - March 2014

On 27.2-1.3.2014, delegations from Young Democrats for Europe met in Brussels and participated in the EDP Council. During this Council, the European elections manifesto was approved unanimously. This manifesto promotes a more united and stronger Europe. New members joined our party: 2 individual members from the German “Freie Wähler”.

This EDP event was an opportunity to gather EDP youths. A YDE council was therefore organised, in which we discussed our projects and our future strategy for the upcoming European elections. 

One of our projects is titled 10years for 10 countries within the European Union. The 1st of May will be the 10th anniversary of the biggest EU enlargement. Concerning this event, we have started to question youngsters from these countries to find out how they feel after 10 years in the European Union. This questionnaire is available in Slovak, Poland, Greek and English.

This Guy for President!

The European Democratic Party has chosen Guy Verhofstadt, former Belgian Prime Minister and current leader of the ALDE group in the European Parliament, as its candidate for the European Commission Presidency. The Young Democrats for Europe supports this decision.

What is the future for equality and equity? , Press release (PR)

 On September 19th and 20th representatives of our youth organisation partners visited Bratislava and Slovakia for the first time, they were from different parts of Europe.

 Civil association, Young Europeans is committed to the Slovak European Democratic Party, a member of European Democratic Party (EDP-PDE, the ALDE Group in the European Parliament) and not only for its history but also for sharing pro-European values. Thanks to  the financial support from EDP, for several years young people can have meeting with another people from more than 7 European member states, exchange mutual experiences and information, organise common projects to support the spread of democracy development and the deepening of European identity in order to eliminate hatred and national discriminations, break down the fear of unknown and help all young Europeans to understand that it is not possible to lose their own identity while respecting the rights, values, traditions and habits of other people. EDP Council in Rome.

YDE delegation took part to the senior party Council of the semester. Marco Cappa introduced officially the new Bureau and 2012 activities of the organization. Among the other participants: Marios Kaminarides (VP) launching his candidature for the City Council in Cyprus, Donata Janusaskaite (VP) representing the Darbo Partja of Lithuania and Norbert Kucharik (Slovakia) who attended also the Alliance of Democrats international meeting “The Future of Democracy” in the Italian Parliament.
